Rawalpindi, 25 September 2022 (TDI): Sheikh Ahmed Sultan Bin Sulayem, the Chairman of Dubai Port World (one of the world’s largest port operators), met with General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan.

Relief efforts in the aftermath of the disastrous floods, as well as everything that can be done to help Pakistan recover, were discussed.

Sheikh Sultan also visited flood-affected areas in Sindh earlier today and donated USD 2.5 million to the Army relief fund. He praised the Pakistan Army’s assistance operations in flood-affected areas.

Along these lines, the Chairman of Dubai Port World stated that the UAE and its leadership stand with the people of Pakistan in this time of suffering.

The dignitary pledged to highlight the subject of climate justice for Pakistan at international forums. Sheikh Sultan was praised by General Bajwa for his important and timely assistance to Pakistan.

Economic development issues in Pakistan were also explored during the meeting. Sheikh Sultan informed the Army Chief of DP World’s desire to expand its presence in Pakistan.

He offered to invite additional donations for flood relief operations in the coming days. Moreover, he also expressed gratitude to Fakhr Alam, Sitara e Imtiaz, for organising the tour and raising awareness in the UAE about the need for assistance in Pakistan.
