Chairperson of Lahore Floritage Sogetsu Study Group Receives Japanese Award

Islamabad (TDI): The Government of Japan has conferred Japanese Foreign Minister’s Commendations 2025 upon Neveen Syed, the Chairperson of the Lahore Floritage Sogetsu Study Group, in recognition of her significant contributions towards the promotion of cultural relations between Japan and Pakistan.

On August 28, 2025 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan had announced the conferment of award on Neveen Syed, which was presented to her Monday by the Japanese Ambassador to Pakistan, Akamatsu Shuichi.

Lahore Floritage Sogetsu Study Group is a cultural organization of Japanese-style flower arrangement, Ikebana. Ambassador Shuichi presented the commendations to Syed on the occasion of an annual Ikebana flower arrangement exhibition hosted by the Group.

Syed has been working selflessly and with full dedication to spread Japanese culture by providing opportunities to introduce Japanese culture to Pakistani people by holding Ikebana flower arrangement classes and exhibitions in Pakistan.

While congratulating her upon receiving the commendations, the ambassador said that the conferment is the acknowledgement of her efforts and dedication towards enhanced cultural relations and people-to-people interactions between the two countries.

In addition, the ambassador expressed his expectation that Neveen Syed will continue to play an essential role in the promotion of Ikebana in Pakistan, and will continue to be a bridge of friendship and goodwill.
