Chicago (TD): The Consulate General of Pakistan in Chicago, in partnership with OPEN-Chicago, organized a seminar “Pakistan in Focus: Celebrating Culture, Media, and Creativity” to highlight the changing landscape of Pakistani cultural output and the growth of the media industry.
Sultana Siddiqui, Founder and President of HUM TV, was the guest of honor, with a diverse audience of artists, entrepreneurs, professionals, and community leaders.
The seminar started with opening remarks by Consul General Tariq Karim, who talked about the role of culture, media, and creativity in shaping Pakistan’s global narrative. He also spoke about the richness of Pakistan’s poetry, music, art, and food.

He noted that it is very important to show Pakistan’s unique identity to the world by sharing real stories, encouraging creativity at home and abroad. He defined the media’s transformative power not only as an entertainment industry but as a tool of education, empowerment, and responsible narrative advancement.
The discussion also focused on media growth in Pakistan, particularly the role of television, film, and the internet as attitude change and cross-cultural communication agents. He appreciated the role of Pakistani media in examining regional conflict and its focus on fact and ethical reporting.
Sultana Siddiqui also gave an interactive presentation about building the HUM TV, the role of the channel in initiating social change, and the power of media in inventing stories that resonate with a global audience.
The event ended with a call for renewed cultural collaboration, innovation, and narrative connecting Pakistan and its diaspora and wider audiences. A dinner reception hosted by OPEN-Chicago Chairperson Aamir Chalisa in honor of Siddiqui was the culmination of the day’s events.
