CDWP Approves Rs422.7 Billion Development Projects

Islamabad (TDI): The Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has approved 15 development projects worth Rs422.704 billion.

The approval was given during a meeting presided over by Professor Ahsan Iqbal, the Minister for Planning and Development and Chairman of the Planning Commission, a press release said.

During today’s meeting, the CDWP directly approved six projects worth Rs17.95 and recommended nine other schemes worth Rs404.754 billion to the National Economic Council’s (ECNEC) Executive Committee for consideration.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary of Planning, Awais Manzur Sumra, the Joint Chief Economist (Ops), Members of the Planning Commission, and other provincial, federal, and provincial representatives.

Various projects related to health, agriculture, environment, manpower, governance, water resources, transport and communication and science & technology were discussed.

Approved projects

The CDWP approved several key projects during its meeting. These include:

  1. KP Revenue Mobilization Program

This is a revised project worth Rs4.713 billion for improving revenue collection and public resource management in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. It will be financed through foreign funding.

  1. Jinnah Medical Complex and Research Center

The project is worth Rs3.11 billion. This initiative, under the Ministry of National Health Services, aims to provide specialized healthcare services at both national and international levels.

Discussing the project, Ahsan said a Program Management Unit (PMU) and A Project Implementation Unit (PIU) with technical and administrative capabilities should be established for the timely completion.

  1. Social Sector Accelerator (SSA) for HNEYG

The “Prime Minister’s Youth Internship Programme (revised)” was approved, costing Rs7.5 billion. Executed by the Ministry of Planning and funded via PSDP, the programme offers 30,000 paid internships for fresh graduates for six months. Interns will receive monthly stipends of Rs25,000 or Rs40,000, as per the revised PC-1. The students will also receive certificates from host organizations and the ministry at the end of the internship.

  1. Strengthening Planning Ministry in IT

Another project related to the IT sector was presented in the meeting namely “Strengthening of Ministry of Planning and Development in IT” worth Rs1.334 billion approved by the forum.
