Tashkent, 30 April 2024 (TDI): A delegation of the Central Asian Regional Information and Coordination Center (CARICC), led by the Director Atageldi Yazlyyev, visited Tashkent. He had collaborative discussions with the leadership of proficient officials of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The Director of the National Information-Analytical Center on Drug Control of the Republic of Uzbekistan, S. Boydedayev, conducted a meeting with Director CARICC A. Yazlyyev in which the participants exchanged their viewpoints on the advancement of drug problems in Central Asia and Uzbekistan.
During the meeting, both parties articulated a shared interest in boosting international counternarcotic collaboration and cooperation between countries and focused organizations.
Furthermore, the Director of CARICC notified the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Muzzafar Madrakhimov, about the ongoing endeavors of the respective organization.
Both stakeholders also agreed on escalating cooperation on the drug problem in Central Asia under CARICC.
The Organization of CARICC plays a vital role in tackling cross-border crime, specifically illegal drug trafficking in the region of Central Asia.
CARICC was established on May 4, 1996, to optimize cooperation between member states, which include Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, observer states (Afghanistan, China, and Pakistan), and international partners.

One of the critical goals of CARICC is to confront the illegal flow of drugs through the region of Central Asia, which serves as a primary transportation route for drugs emerging from Afghanistan and other producing countries.
Additionally, along with other operational activities, CARICC offers technical assistance and training to its member states in order to develop capabilities in the domains of intelligence analyses, border control, and investigative techniques.
Overall, CARICC functions as a critical mechanism for combating threats presented by cross-border organized crimes and advancing regional security in Central Asia.
