Montreal, 1 September 2021 (TDI): Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Marc Garneau had a meaningful conversation with Italy’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Luigi Di Maio on Wednesday.

Both parties exchanged views on the mercurial situation of Afghanistan. As members of the G7, parties from both countries pledged to continue to work together and keep in constant contact to guarantee that their people and vulnerable Afghans have a safe exit. G7 (The Group of Seven) is a political forum comprised of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Its members include the world’s largest IMF advanced economies and the wealthiest liberal democracies.

After the stunning fall of the Afghan government and Taliban takeover, Afghanistan fell into disarray. Foreign countries with the help of their allies are trying to evacuate their nationals and diplomats from Afghanistan to keep them away from the extraordinary developments in Afghanistan.
