Cambodia received vaccine doses from Australia

Phnom Penh, 28 December 2021 (TDI): Australia has sent Pfizer BioNTech COVID19 vaccine doses to Cambodia two days ago.

The lot from South Pacific country brought 783,000 doses of Covid 19 vaccination doses.

This has been the first lot from Australia while the country shows commitment to providing 2.35 million doses of vaccination to Cambodia.

The doses under vaccine diplomacy of Australia arrived on the boxing day of Cambodia.

The current situation of the Pandemic has been worsening all over the world. Even Cambodia received 15 new Omicron cases today in the country.

The new Covid-19 variant known as Omicron is also a serious threat for the Philippines. As the country received the doses from Australia, it will help them to protect the population against new variants.

During the handover ceremony of vaccine doses, the President of Cambodia Samdech Techno Hun Sen was there.

He noted that Cambodia has achieved success by cooperating with development partners and friendly states. He also provided credit to the people of Cambodia.

Boxing day

Cambodia celebrates Boxing day on the next day of Christmas every year. The country also observes holidays on 26th December every year.

Earlier the day was to provide gifts to the poor and needy people. Today, the world celebrates it as a shopping holiday. The people also celebrate Boxing Day Holiday as concurrent to catholic holiday Saint Stephen’s Day. It was earlier originated in the United Kingdom now celebrated in numerous countries across the world.
