Phnom Penh, 18 August 2022 (TDI): Prime Minister of Cambodia, Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen said that cooperation and mutual assistance are very necessary amid numerous challenges the world is facing.
He gave this statement during the handing-taking over ceremony of the Covid-19 vaccines between Spain and Cambodia.

300,000 pediatric doses of the COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine were transferred from Spain to Cambodia through Cristina Elisa Aguilar Jiménez, Chargée D’Affaires at the Embassy of Spain in Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar.
Prime Minister of Cambodia on World Challenges
Cambodian Prime Minister said COVID-19 has subsided but is still ongoing. Other than COVID-19, the world is currently dealing with several severe problems that could undermine the progress of the global socio-economic recovery.
He added that the United States (US) and the European Union’s (EU) rising fuel costs particularly caused high inflation. It compelled Central Banks to boost interest rates to combat the rise in inflation but result in a fall in worldwide demand.
Moreover, he said that the people’s everyday lives have been under growing pressure due to excessive inflation in Cambodia.
Cambodian Prime Minister stated, “In these difficult and unpredictable circumstances, we need cooperation and mutual assistance more than ever before.
In this spirit, I would like to encourage the prioritization of the welfare of the people and public health, strict adherence to the spirit of mutual assistance, and strengthening of cooperation in all fields.”
Moreover, he stressed that Cambodia; ASEAN Chair in 2022, will work to improve cooperation within the ASEAN area. Cambodia will also strengthen the interaction between ASEAN-European Union and ASEAN-Spain.
While Cristina Elisa Aguilar Jiménez on her part repeated the Prime Minister of Samdech Techo’s remarks about the importance of cooperation in identifying long-term solutions to global problems.
She also praised Cambodia’s participation in UN conferences and its leadership of ASEAN this year. Moreover, the Spanish Chargée D’Affaires wished Cambodia success in its efforts to make the region a peaceful and prosperous region for everybody.
