Bulgarian Ambassador Met Secretary BOI


Islamabad, 1 October 2021 (TDI):  Bulgarian Ambassador to Pakistan Irena Gancheva called on Secretary BOI Fareena Mazhar today at the Board of Investment.

The Ambassador of Bulgaria expressed a keen interest in Pakistan’s IT Sector and underscored the significance of Pakistan’s Strategic location. Secretary Board of Investment informed the Ambassador on regulatory reforms being introduced by BOI.

Ambassador of Bulgaria identified value-added textiles and food processing as priority sectors of the government of Pakistan.  Both sides agreed that organized tourism can act as an area of mutual interest for the countries. It was also discussed that a  virtual meeting between the Board of Investment and its Bulgarian counterpart is expected to be held by end of this month to further explore possible areas of cooperation. It was also agreed that to enhance direct contacts between investment Bulgaria Agency and BOI.

Pakistan-Bulgaria Relations

Pakistan and Bulgaria have traditionally enjoyed friendly and cooperative relations. Our Country adores and values its friendly relations with the Republic of Bulgaria. Both countries share the commonality of views on regional and international issues.  Pakistan and Bulgaria can be the most advantageous gateways for each other to enter Asian and European markets respectively.

Bulgaria’s supportive role for Pakistan’s greater access to European Union (EU) market. The two countries need to further cement ties at the parliamentary level. Exchanges of high-level delegations between the two countries will further bolster friendly relations.

There is a need for exploring the untapped areas for enhancing the cooperation between the two friendly countries, i.e. Agriculture, Information Technology (IT) and economics. There is a strong need for enhancing trade cooperation between the two countries.

Parliamentary diplomacy is substantial means of bringing nations closer together. Peace and stability are crucial for the development and prosperity of the region.

Pakistan will continue to support and remain the partner of peace efforts in the region.
