Astana (TDI): Pakistan’s boxing legend, Amir Khan, visited Kazakhstan’s city Astana on April 25, on the invitation of Kazakhstan’s Embassy to Pakistan.
He arrived in the city of Astana to participate in a series of events intended to promote sports diplomacy, friendship, cultural cooperation, and mutual respect between Pakistan and Kazakhstan through the universal language of sports.
Upon arrival, Amir Khan visited key cultural and sports centers of Astana and engaged with several athletes, inspiring them by telling his boxing journey starting from participating in local matches to winning international championships.

He also addressed the students and members of the Kazakhstan boxing community, emphasizing the values of discipline, persistence, and dedication in their career as a professional boxer.
On April 21, he visited the gyms in Kazakhstan and admired the dedication of the government of Kazakhstan and its people in contributing towards and promoting sports initiatives. He stated that it was “something we would be bringing to England and Pakistan.”
The representatives of sports authority of Kazakhstan warmly welcomed Amir Khan and acknowledged his contributions to both sports as well as humanitarian causes.
The Embassy of Kazakhstan to Pakistan expressed its commitment to promote such cultural and sports initiatives that would strengthen the bonds between the people of two countries.
Amir Khan, a celebrated figure in Pakistan and has won Olympic silver medal as well as other renowned championships including WBC, WBA, IBF.
Despite his early retirement in May 2022, Amir Khan has expressed keen interest in returning to the boxing ring for exhibition matches and education purposes.

Last year, Amir Khan accepted the offer to fight Manny Pacquiao in an exhibition match, which would take place after Pacquiao’s agreement.
Both Amir Khan and Manny Pacquiao have retired from professional boxing but remain open to exhibition matches for educational purposes.
