Blinken Appreciates Bahrain’s FM for support in Evacuation

Washington, D.C., 2 September 2021 (TDI): On Wednesday, the Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken spoke with Bahraini Foreign Minister Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid al-Zayani regarding Bahrain’s enormous assistance and relentless efforts in safely evacuating U.S. citizens and other evacuees from Afghanistan.

During the telephonic call, the officials discussed critical policy objectives including a few ‘collective’ security measures crucial to maximizing regional security of the entire Gulf region. The US Secretary of State also appreciated the Bahraini Foreign Minister al-Zayani regarding Bahrain’s humanitarian support and positive role amid the Afghanistan situation.

The United States of America recently marked the complete withdrawal of its troops from Afghanistan, thus, putting an end to a 20-year war on terrorism. The US government has been able to safely transit a total of more than 124,000 civilians from Afghanistan, including 6000 American citizens.
