White House, 6 August 2021 (TDI): At the invitation of President of Fiji Frank Bainimarama, President of the United States Joe Biden addressed the leaders of the Pacific Islands Forum that they have celebrated 50 years of the forum. He reiterated the significance of shared values as the basis of relations between the nations.
President Biden expressed that there is no more immediate threat to all of the nations than COVID-19. He further added that the pandemic has inflicted huge losses on these countries, including the irreplaceable loss of lives. He encouraged all the countries to work together in the fight against the pandemic. Talking about climate change, President said that America will become emission-free at end of 2030.
