Dhaka, 15 March 2024, (TDI): Bangladesh has dispatched vital food and medical aid to Palestine on the occasion of Ramadan. Egypt’s famous Al Azhar University-based organization Al-Azhar Zakat and Charity House confirmed the information to the media.
According to Abdel-Alim Kashta, spokesman for Al-Azhar Zakat and Charity House, around 2,000 tons of relief goods were sent to Gaza in 100 trucks from several countries around the world.
He said that Bangladesh stands out for its significant donation to the Palestinians among other countries. These countries include Indonesia, India, the United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, France, China, Canada, and Germany.
Abdel-Alim Kashta revealed that the trucks laden with essential supplies would enter Gaza via Egypt’s North Sinai region, crossing the Rafah border. The Charity House added that this shipment marks the fifth and most extensive delivery since October 7.
The spokesperson expressed concerns that the situation in Gaza has become increasingly dire. Several reports indicate that children are succumbing to malnutrition and lack of access to clean water, he added.
Since the commencement of conflict last year, Al-Azhar Zakat and Charity House have orchestrated the delivery of 4,000 tons of vital provisions to Gaza. The organization said aid will continue until the war ends and the reconstruction process in the Gaza Strip begins.
