Baku Declaration Signed at the end of Trilateral Speakers Conference

Baku – 27 July 2021 (TDI):  Parliamentary Conference of trilateral format was held today in Baku involving Speakers of National Assemblies from Pakistan, Turkey, and Azerbaijan.

The Baku Declaration was signed by Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament, Mustafa Shentop, Speaker of Turkey’s Grand National Assembly, and Asad Qaiser, Speaker of Pakistan’s National Assembly.

The Baku Declaration will serve to promote intercultural discourse by fostering effective and efficient communication across cultures and civilizations alongside fostering cooperation among these nations. In 2008, 48 nations, eight international organizations, and numerous international non-governmental groups from Europe and adjacent areas signed the Baku Declaration on the Promotion of Intercultural Dialogue.

Asad Qaiser, Speaker of the Pakistani Parliament, and a legislative delegation alongside Mustafa Shentop, Speaker of the Turkish Grand National Assembly, reached Baku from Istanbul airport. Today the Speaker of National Assembly Pakistan met the President of Azerbaijan, Ilam Aliyev, and exchanged views on the issues of Jammu and Kashmir, the Karabakh War, and enhancement of bilateral cooperation in education, climate change, and the health sector.
