Baku, 26 August 2022 (TDI): Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramovled by the special representative of the President of the Republic of Korea, So Byog-soo.

The delegation includes committee chairmen and members of the Korean National Assembly, along with So Byog Su.

During their meeting, Foreign Minister Bayramov welcomed the guests and said that the bilateral relations between both countries had developed successfully. He also noted vast opportunities for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Korea.

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister also noted that 2022 is the year of the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. The Foreign Minister also spoke about the improvement in bilateral relations. He referred to the growing political dialogue, mutual visits, and last month’s political dialogue at the level of deputy ministers in Korea.

The Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan also referred to inter-parliamentary relations as significant. He expressed his satisfaction with So Byong-soo’s efforts as the head of the Azerbaijan-Korea Friendship Group in the Korean Parliament.

Azerbaijan’s top diplomat also stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation in the economic field. He also emphasized the activity of the Joint Commission on economic cooperation between the two countries.

The Foreign Minister also said that the increasing cooperation between the two countries in the field of education, the activity of the Baku State Vocational Education Center for Industry and Innovations (established based on Korean educational standards), and the dual diploma education programs between universities are important directions of the increasing cooperation between the two countries.

Both sides discussed the prospect of cooperation in different areas, including alternative energy resources and the mining industry in the liberated territories.

Stance from Korean side

The special representative of the President of Korea, So Byog Su, noted the successful development of relations between the two countries and talked about the prospect of developing cooperation relations in the fields of economy, education, energy, information technology, investment, politics, and other fields.

The special representative also expressed his satisfaction with meeting with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan,  Ilham Aliyev. He also recalled visiting Azerbaijan in 2009 as the head of the Azerbaijan-Korea Friendship Group of the Parliament. He witnessed how Azerbaijan has developed since then.

During the meeting, attention was also paid to issues such as mutual support for each other’s country in international organizations and platforms, and views were exchanged on areas of mutual interest.
