Azerbaijan Victory Day celebrated in Islamabad

Islamabad, 8 November 2021(TDI): Embassy of Azerbaijan to Pakistan celebrated victory day by hosting a special reception in Islamabad. Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan Khazar Farhadov and Defence Attache Col Mehman Novruzlu was the host of this important reception.

Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Nadeem Raza was the Chief Guest of the event. Other important guests were Governor Punjab Ch. Sarwar, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Former Speaker National Assembly of Pakistan, Ambassador of Turkey were present on the occasion to reflect Pakistan’s strong support for Azerbaijan on this important national day.

In his welcome remarks, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Pakistan explained the aggression and hegemonic behavior of Armenia towards Azerbaijan. He said that as a result of the ethnic cleansing of Azerbaijani people by Armenia, millions were left homeless.

Ambassador said that on several occasions Armenia violated international law and so far no sanctions have been imposed. To counter Armenian aggression against Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani forces culminated in the 44 days war with victory.

Ambassador further added that this victory was the restoration of independence for the occupied territories. He said this victory is the victory of Azerbaijan. Ambassador shared with the audience that the government has begun the rehabilitation work in the war-hit areas.

Fuzuli Airport was built in 8 months and is now operating. President of Azerbaijan and Turkey inaugurated this Airport. Azerbaijan is committed to global peace and prosperity.

While speaking on Kashmir, Ambassador Khazar said that Azerbaijan supports the Kashmir issue and fully endorse that this dispute should be resolved according to UN resolutions.

Defense Attache shed light on the role of Azerbaijan’s strong professional forces. He said that Azerbaijani forces stopped the enemy and made victory possible for the country. While thanking Pakistanis for extending moral and diplomatic support during the war, he said that this is the true reflection of brotherhood. He also paid tributes to the martyrs and heroes of this important 44-day patriotic war.

The reception was attended by a large number of people from different walks of life.
