Tashkent, 3 August 2022 (TDI): The 1st Trilateral Meeting of Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Trade-Economy and Transport of Azerbaijan, Turkiye and Uzbekistan, took place in Tashkent on Tuesday.

The meeting facilitated fruitful discussions on strengthening cooperation between the regional states.
The foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan took to his Twitter and said “In times of growing challenges to global security, stability & economic development, this new trilateral platform fits into existing efforts to develop regional cooperation & to address our countries’ shared interests in peace, security & prosperity.”

Proceedings of the Trilateral Meeting
The meeting facilitated the promotion of joint investment projects and utilization of the transport-logistics opportunities between Azerbaijan, Turkiye and Uzbekistan.
The Ministers put a special emphasis on the importance of the Middle Corridor and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway. The officials also noted that the opening of the Zangezur corridor will serve to expand international transport links.
The Ministers negotiated the opportunities for developing cooperation at bilateral and regional levels, within the framework of the meeting. They addressed cooperation in the fields of energy and transportation and exchanged views on international and regional developments.
As a result of the meeting, the Taskent Declaration was also signed by the ministers responsible for the relevant fields of the three states.
Trilateral cooperation among Azerbaijan, Türkiye and Uzbekistan is based on common history, shared culture and values. This new trilateral format will strengthen interaction on regional and international issues of mutual interest.

On the sidelines of the Trilateral Meeting of the Ministers, the Ministers of Azerbaijan also met with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
During the meeting, the Ministers highlighted the importance of the strategic partnership and economic-trade relations between the two countries.
They discussed the significance of the Joint Investment Fund in the attraction of mutual investments. They also discussed the expansion of cooperation in the fields of industry and agriculture.
