Rome, 5 September 2024 (TDI): Azerbaijan and Italy are planning to establish joint enterprises across various sectors and cooperate in the reconstruction of Garabagh, Manuela Traldi, President of the Italy-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce said.
Speaking to reporters in Rome, Traldi underscored the significant potential for collaboration between the two nations.
“We held highly productive meetings with our Azerbaijani counterparts, including private sector representatives,” Traldi stated.
A high-level round table with the participation of Italy’s Minister of Entrepreneurship and Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy is planned, she added.
Traldi highlighted that the Chamber of Commerce is actively working to attract investments to Azerbaijan.
“We promote Azerbaijan in Italy and utilize every opportunity to draw investments from Italian companies,” she said.
She mentioned that the creation of the Italian-Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce in 2012 was motivated by the Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) project, which she believed would strengthen ties between the two countries.
She emphasized ongoing projects and close collaboration with Azerbaijan’s investment companies, the Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO), and the Ministry of Economy.

Vast Prospects
“The prospects are vast. We aim to establish joint ventures that will bring cutting-edge Italian technologies into Azerbaijan’s business and production environment, fostering economic diversification and development,” Traldi added.
The planned joint ventures will focus on industries such as petrochemicals, metallurgy, and agriculture.
Traldi elaborated, “We have several initiatives to support agriculture’s future growth in Azerbaijan, along with new projects in healthcare, the industrial sector, and other areas where Italy is known for innovation, like the food industry, leather processing, shoe production, and textiles.”
Italian companies are also eager to take part in the reconstruction efforts in Garabagh.
“The Italian government is working to secure more contracts for Italian companies to implement projects in Azerbaijan.
Opportunities are expanding for Italian businesses in the liberated territories,” she remarked.
Shortly after the 44-day war, Italy sent a mission to Garabagh.
“Italy has consistently supported Azerbaijan on the Garabagh issue, and we are pleased to contribute to the reconstruction in various capacities. This is a central aspect of our bilateral relations,” Traldi noted.
Italy continues to be one of Azerbaijan’s key trading partners, reflecting the strong economic ties between the two countries.
