Austria, 6 June 2023 (TDI): Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jeyhun Bayramov, the Republic of Azerbaijan, met with Austrian Federal Minister of European and International Affairs Alexander Schallenberg during his official visit to Austria.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and Alexander Schallenberg discussed various current bilateral and multilateral cooperation matters, including regional and global events. Minister Bayramov highlighted the bilateral cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and Austria, encompassing political, economic, energy security, cultural, and humanitarian aspects.
The ministers underscored the importance of reciprocal visits and contacts, emphasizing the significance of political consultations and parliamentary diplomacy in fostering stronger relations.

Minister Bayramov highlighted the vast potential for economic cooperation between the two countries, particularly regarding investments, and stressed the need to leverage this potential effectively. Additionally, the importance of continuing multilateral relations, particularly within the framework of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and the European Union, was emphasized.

Minister Bayramov provided a detailed overview of the post-conflict situation in the region, the ongoing normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, peace-building efforts, and the current challenges and difficulties faced. He highlighted Armenia’s failure to fulfill its obligations, military-political provocations, and the threat of landmines, which undermine peace initiatives.
Minister Schallenberg expressed Austria’s commitment to further expanding relations with Azerbaijan and emphasized the importance of political consultations as a platform to discuss prospects for development in bilateral ties. He reiterated Austria’s support for establishing peace and security in the region.
