Canberra, 15 December (TDI): Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison hosted the President of the Republic of Korea in Canberra yesterday.
The President Moon Jae-in of South Korea is on an official state visit to Australia to discuss bilateral issues.
The two countries also mark the 60th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between them. The pair also remembered the shoulder-to-shoulder fight of the two countries in the Korean War.

Korean President’s tour to Canberra recognized strong strategic, economic, and people-to-people links between the Pacific nations. They also called the relationship for mutual benefit contributing to the vision of an open, inclusive, and prosperous Indo-Pacific region.
The state heads also thought to further strengthen the connection through Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) announced jointly by them.
STRATEGIC AND SECURITY COOPERATION
Australian Premier and President Moon Jae-in also announced to enhance bilateral cooperation across security and defense in the Indo Pacific. They also underlined the areas such as health, border protection, and development cooperation in the region.
The two leaders have also shown agreement after the meeting to strengthen regional defense materiel supply chains. Countries will also promote closer cooperation between defense industries.
ECONOMIC, INNOVATION AND TECHNOLOGY COOPERATION
While highlighting the Economic innovation the two nations committed to enhancing existing strong economic ties. They will also deepen cooperation in agriculture, biosecurity, food safety, agricultural innovation.
Furthermore, the two leaders stressed the Low and Zero Emissions Technology Partnership. Such cooperation expedites the development and commercialization of technologies to reduce emissions and create new economic opportunities.
Australia and the Republic of Korea had also shown commitment to ambitious action to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement. Moreover, they will also work to improve people-to-people ties.
