Australia Reaffirms Support for Gender Equality, Education in Pakistan

Lahore (TDI): Deputy High Commissioner of Australia, Nicole Guihot, reaffirmed Australia’s commitment to gender equality and education as she visited Dar-ul-Uloom Sirajia Naeemia Lahore.

During her visit, she met with and listened to students’ aspirations, sharing with them her experience of growing up as a girl in rural Australia.

She underscored that education is a game-changer that needs equal opportunities for girls to learn, grow, and lead.

“Every girl deserves access to education and the chance to realize her potential,” Guihot remarked, stressing Australia’s commitment to active support in inclusive education initiatives in Pakistan.

She also met with faculty members and religious scholars to discuss possibilities for a more comprehensive and progressive approach to education.

The discussions focused on the role of religious institutions in creating awareness among students about equal opportunities that they should receive irrespective of their gender.

Australia is committed to a number of educational and women’s empowerment programs across Pakistan in collaboration with local partner organizations in their investments on quality education, particularly focusing hard-to-reach areas, rural and underserved.
