Australia Empowers Pakistani Youth Through Scholarships: Hawkins

Islamabad (TDI): Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Neil Hawkins has said that Australia was proud to support young Pakistani professionals through different educational scholarship programs.

He said that scholarship program is one of the most important ones. There are long-term and short-term scholarship programs for young professionals, he told the state-run news agency APP.

Neil Hawkins said that this relationship is powered by people. “From the Baloch cameleers who helped build Australia’s outback, to the more than 100,000 Pakistanis who now call Australia home, and the twenty thousand students currently studying in Australia—our relations are strengthening and are deeply rooted.”

Replying to a query, he said that like Pakistan, climate change is also a major issue for Australia: “Australia have faced floods and droughts. With shared experiences, we can find solutions and cope with the challenge of climate change. We can help and learn from each other.”

The High Commissioner further said that Australia’s support continues to boost climate resilience, education, and gender equality through grassroots partnerships that uplift Pakistani communities.

Hawkins said that Australia is exporting cows to Pakistan as these are very popular here. “The Australian cows are different from the European cows as they are used to hot weather conditions and give good milk,” he added.
