Astana, 6 July 2024 (TDI): The “Qazaqstan” athletics sports complex served as the venue for the exhibition titled “Sport – Ambassador of Peace” on 5 July 2024.
The exhibition was strategically scheduled to coincide with both the Day of Diplomatic Service of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the centennial celebration of the International Sports Press Association.
The event saw the presence of dignitaries from various diplomatic missions accredited in Kazakhstan, prominent figures from the public sphere, and a diverse representation of both domestic and international media outlets.
Moreover, the exhibition benefitted from substantial support provided by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan, the Directorate of the World Nomad Games, and the Association of National Sports, underscoring their collective commitment to promoting the event and its significance in celebrating sport as a catalyst for peace and cultural exchange.
In his welcoming speech, Murager Sauranbay, Deputy Chairman of the International Information Committee of the Kazakh Foreign Ministry, underscored the profound significance of the exhibition.
He eloquently articulated that the event serves as a powerful testament to the inseparable bond between sports and diplomacy. According to Sauranbay, these domains not only promote physical prowess and athletic achievement but also play pivotal roles as transformative forces in advancing international peace and nurturing enduring bonds of camaraderie among diverse nations and peoples around the globe.
Furthermore, he said:
“Major sporting events often serve as platforms for diplomatic engagement and dialogue, demonstrating the power of sport to foster mutual understanding and respect”.
In keeping with the ethos of unity and collaboration, Sauranbay took the opportunity to bring attention to the newly inaugurated initiative known as the “Kazakhstan Goodwill Ambassadors” project.
Additionally, Sergey Tsyrulnikov, the recipient of this prestigious accolade, graced the exhibition with his presence and delighted guests by showcasing elements of power sports.
Serik Zharasbayev, Vice-Minister of Tourism and Sports of Kazakhstan delivered a comprehensive speech during the event, he elaborated on the significant and expansive preparations for the Fifth World Nomad Games.
His remarks highlighted the meticulous planning and enthusiastic participation of various stakeholders in ensuring the success of this international sporting event.
Additionally, Gianni Merlo, President of the International Sports Press Association, expressed his thoughts and sentiments via video.
In his address, he underscored the profound significance of organizing and hosting exhibitions like this in Kazakhstan, highlighting their role in promoting global sportsmanship and cultural exchange.
