-

Baku- 24 July 2021 (TDI):  Information of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan was released on the Armenian Armed Forces firing shells in the direction of the Kalbajar region on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state boundary.

Armenian armed forces fired on Azerbaijani Army positions in the Kalbajar district of the Armenia-Azerbaijani state boundary on July 23, 2021, according to the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan. It is reported that one of the Azerbaijani soldiers was killed by sniper fire from the other side.

The Armenian side’s latest provocations, including attempts to exacerbate the volatile environment in the region by shooting on Azerbaijani positions, are unacceptable, and Armenia bears full responsibility for the situation’s development.

Azerbaijan proclaims that it reserves the right to take any and all measures required to defend its territorial integrity within its international boundaries, as well as to guarantee regional peace and security. According to the press department, the situation on the border has calmed down with the cessation of shooting and shelling.
