Buenos Aires, 29 March 2022 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of the Argentine Republic, Santiago Cafiero, received Ambassadors of the G7 countries and the EU in Argentina.
Santiago Cafiero met the Ambassadors of the G7 countries to discuss current international and regional topics. The Argentine Foreign Minister iterated the importance that Argentina, the G7, and the EU attach to multilateralism and its principles and values.
Moreover, according to a tweet by the Argentine Foreign Ministry, the officials also analyzed commercial potentialities in the country. The meeting took place within the framework of regular exchange between Argentina and the G7.
Furthermore, the Japanese Ambassador to Argentina remarked, “We renew our determination to work together, and alongside Argentina, for a free and open international order, something more important in these challenging times.”
Group of 7
The Group of 7 is an intergovernmental political forum. The members of the group include the USA, Canada, Italy, France, Germany, Japan, and the UK. Moreover, the European Union also takes part in the group’s activities.
In addition, these countries are the world’s largest IMF advanced economies. Officially, the group is organized around values of pluralism and democracy. The group wields significant influence in international politics and the economy.
The Group of 7 is a high-profile venue for discussion and coordination of solutions to major global issues, especially in the areas of trade, security, economics, and climate change.
Argentina and the G7
The Argentine Republic enjoys friendly relations with the G7 countries. It has historic, cultural, and commercial ties with the members of G7. Both have cooperated on matters of international significance.
Argentina is a member of the Group of 20, another intergovernmental forum that addresses similar issues as the G7, including the global economy, climate change mitigation, and sustainable development. All the G7 countries are also members of the G20 group.
