Arab states expressed solidarity with the Kingdom of  Saudi Arabia in the wake of a suicide blast in Jeddah.

Riyadh, 13 August 2022 (TDI): Arab states expressed solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) in the wake of a suicide blast in Jeddah.

Abdullah bin Zayed al-Shehri exploded a suicide vest when authorities attempted to arrest him in Jeddah. The explosion resulted in injuring of a Pakistani national and three security men.

Statement by UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs 

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) condemned the blast and reiterated its stance against “all threats to the Kingdom’s security and stability.”

The country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs also praised the efficiency of the Saudi security forces during the operation.

Furthermore, UAE applauded the measures taken to maintain public safety. The Ministry also conveyed wishes for a speedy recovery of those injured in the blast.

Remarks by Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain stressed the “unwavering solidarity” with the KSA against all threats to its security and stability. It also commended the efficiency and vigilance of the security forces in Saudi Arabia.

Remarks by Kuwait 

Kuwait reiterated its backing of the Kingdom’s effort against security threats. “Kuwait stands by Saudi Arabia and supports all measures it may take to safeguard its security and the safety of its people,” Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The Ministry also lauded the efficient security operation and the authorities’ targeted efforts to block any threat to the Kingdom’s stability.

Statement by Egyptian Foreign Ministry

Egypt also voiced support for Saudi Arabia’s fight against “all forms of terrorism” and any violation that threatens national security.

In an official statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry praised the Kingdom’s proactive measures and capabilities to track down terrorists and safeguard lives.

Operation by Saudi Arabia

On Friday, the Saudi Security authorities announced the operation of tracking down and arresting Al-Shehri. He was among nine wanted individuals involved in a 2015 terrorist operation that targeted a mosque in Saudi Arabia.

Moreover, he had been listed as a wanted person by authorities in the Kingdom for the past seven years.
