Another Curious Billionaire Is Planning to Visit Titanic Wreck

Nobody knows the name yet but New York Post has reported that an under-water trip is on its way. For anyone now planning to go and visit Titanic’s 1912 wreck, a good deal of courage is needed for it has only been two years since the Oceangate submersible explosion killed its five billionaire passengers.

Titanic’s wreck lies 12,500 feet below the North Atlantic Ocean, and has aroused the curiosity of rich explorers from time to time. But diving this deep under water requires especially designed submersibles; one of which is being designed currently by Triton Submarines.

“Besides it being a wreck of historical significance, the fact that it lies at such great depth makes it fascinating to visit,” Patrick Lahey, CEO of Triton Submarines, who is currently making a “commercially available submersible” that can survive a journey to Titanic, told New York Post.

The billionaire is expected to make the journey in a couple of weeks but not much is known yet. For example, which submersible will the billionaire be travelling into. Sure, there are a few richest people in the world who own their private submarines, but is the new explorer from one of these? Who knows!

$10million is the amount needed to make the journey, and this is why visiting the Titanic is a privilege not available to many. But money alone is not enough here. The journey can cost you your life, quite literally. So a safe carrier is also needed.

Since the Oceangate tragedy, the expedition is as much a thrill for billionaires as it is for those making these special vessels that can undertake the journey safely.

Fewer than 250 people have ever traveled deep down to visit the wreck, including James Cameron, the director of the famous Titanic movie. Last year, Larry Connor, an Ohio real estate billionaire, gave the contract to Triton Submarines to design a strong vessel that can take him down.

Its the very same submersible that CEO of Triton Submarines is very excited about. But before Larry’s vessel is ready, looks like a surprise billionaire is more eager to take the trip, straight down 12,500 feet.
