Nairobi, 7 March 2023 (TDI): The Third Edition of the American Chamber of Commerce Kenya (AmCham) business summit will be held from 29 to 30 March.

The American Chamber of Commerce Kenya (AmCham) is a network of American and Kenyan businesses whose objective is to drive mutual growth and economic prosperity between Kenya and the United States

This year, the Business Summit will drive new ideas on re-energizing the region’s economy through two-way trade and investment with the United States.

The members of the chamber visited Nairobi Kenya, on 2 March, the Ambassador of the US to Kenya, Meg White also accompanied them, and where they met with Kenyan President, William Samoei Ruto & discussed the bilateral trade and set the date for the summit.

Kenyan President William Ruto is expected to officiate the summit, and over 500 delegates from the public and private sector, and senior US and Kenyan officials are attending the event.

The AmCham summit will explore opportunities to promote sustainable and inclusive growth while increasing US investment in the region.

The CEO of AmCham Maxwell Okello said that the summit will provide strategic platforms for enhancing two-way trade and investment between the United States and the East African region.

The Summit will be the high-level event in the continent following the US-Kenya leaders’ summit, where the US and Kenya have just concluded a productive first round of talks on the US-Kenya Strategic Trade and Investment Partnership (STIP).

The Summit’s vision is to strengthen and increase strategic partnerships between governments and stakeholders in the private sector.

The Summit also explores how can leverage the dynamism in Africa’s economies to fast-track recovery and growth.

Furthermore, at the summit wide range of topics critical to East Africa including economic development, the role of small businesses in powering international trade, accelerating the African Continental Free Trade (AFCFTA), digital economy, and climate adaption for economic transformation will be covered.
