New York, 30 January 2023 (TDI): The Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States (US), Masood Khan urges Pakistani community members to help boost Pakistan tourism by investing in this potentially lucrative sector.

Masood Khan expressed these views while attending the reception for the Pakistani delegates to New York’s Travel and Adventure Show at the Consulate in New York.

Overview of the ceremony

Ayesha Ali, the Pakistani Consul General in New York welcomed the visiting delegates. She said that they put tremendous efforts into organizing the impressive Pakistan Pavilion at the two-day Travel and Adventure show.

185 countries are taking part in the pavilion. The reception followed the inauguration of the Pakistan pavilion at the show which depicted the country’s tourism potential.

It was inaugurated by Aun Chaudhry, the Prime Minister’s Advisor on Tourism & Sports. Aun Chaudhry cut a green ribbon to open the pavilion to visitors. The Advisor while addressing the participants said, “Pakistan is open for tourism.

The pavilion showcases the culture of all provinces of Pakistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. There was a sharp focus on scenic Gilgit-Baltistan as well as its historical past.”

During his turn, Ambassador Masood Khan shared his appreciation for the dynamism and the energy of the officials and delegates manning the stalls at the Pakistani pavilion.

He also appreciated their briefing about the ancient and cultural sites in Pakistan as well as the facilities provided for tourists.

Khan urged the community members to encourage fellow Americans to go to Pakistan as it is a safe place to enjoy its tourist attractions. He highlighted the efforts Pakistan is undertaking to further ease the grant of visas to tourists.

It is pertinent to note that Minister for Tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan, Raja Nasir Ali Khan & the Azad Kashmir Tourism Minister, Faheem Akhtar also attended the reception.

Additionally, the Managing Director of the Pakistan Tourism and Development Corporation (PTDC), Aftab Rana was also present.
