Ambassador of Yemen honored with Global Ambassador Award


Islamabad, 25 November 2021 (TDI): As a public diplomacy initiative,  Diplomatic Insight Group organized the 4th Global Ambassadors Award Ceremony to acknowledge the services of Ambassadors and diplomats, heads of international organizations, businessmen for the promotion of people to people contact, business, trade, and constructive bilateral relations with their respective states and missions.

As a result of outstanding contribution towards building Pakistan’s strong partnership with Yemen, on behalf of the people of Pakistan,  Diplomatic Insight Group conferred an award to Ambassador Mohammed Motahar Alashabi, Ambassador of Yemen to Pakistan. This was a humble tribute to his hard work and commitment to Pakistan-Yemen relations.

Mohammed Motahar Alashabi, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Yemen to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, is a well-versed diplomat and a peace lover. Having got his degree in combined Economics and Political Sciences from Sana’a University, Yemen, in June 1985. He’s been serving foreign services for decades, and his experience in International Relations and Diplomacy is second to none.

Excellency began his career in 1982 and since then served at different positions in MOFA and later different parts of the world including India, Iran, Pakistan, Australia, Malaysia,

Currently, Ambassador Mohammed Motahar Alashabi serves as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Yemen to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Concurrent Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Yemen to Republic of Kazakhstan, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, and the Republic of Maldives.

During his days at the office, he has attended various international conferences and seminars, including the United Nations 50th and 57th General Assembly sessions. Along with it, he has served as Lecturer of Economic Diplomacy at the Diplomatic Institute, Yemen MOFA and at other academic institutions and The Diplomat Magazine Chief Editor at Yemen MOFA from June 2001 – Oct. 2002.

In Pakistan, he worked for and signed the MoU of Yemen’s Accession to COMSATS and follow-up issues and strengthening relations between Yemen and COMSTECH. He promoted and strengthened relations between Yemen and the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS).

These continuous follow up for maintaining the Technical Education Program guaranteed education to hundreds of Yemeni students. He also signed a MoU with Grafton College and other private colleges and universities of Pakistan.

His incessant efforts increase the number of under and postgraduate students to Pakistan in self-finance. His works have mainly remained to strengthen Yemen-Pakistan relations in all fields, especially in political, commercial, and educational sectors.
