Islamabad, 10 August 2022 (TDI): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif received Ambassador of Italy in Pakistan Andreas Ferrarese today at the office.
The Prime Minister termed Italy a close friend of Pakistan and a reliable partner, both bilaterally and in the EU context.
He observed that Pakistan-Italy relations were marked by growing bilateral cooperation and commonality of views on a range of regional and global issues.
Appreciating Italy’s support in the context of the EU’s preferential trading GSP Plus scheme, the Prime Minister stressed the need to harness the existing potential further to enhance trade and investment relations between the two countries.
The Prime Minister stated that Pakistan would be particularly interested in collaborations in the renewable energy sector, in which Italy has made remarkable progress.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the immense cooperation that Pakistan continued to extend to the international community in the wake of the situation in Afghanistan, particularly since August last year.
The Italian Ambassador thanked the Prime Minister for receiving him and expressed his resolve to increase further and diversify the existing ties between Pakistan and Italy.
Pakistan Italy Relations
Pakistan and Italy enjoy deep-rooted diplomatic, economic, political, and security ties. As a leader in European Union, Pakistan values its relations and its significance, especially in terms of long-standing support to help Pakistan in terms of economic outreach in the European market.
The trajectory of relations with Italy has remained upward, and there is growing strength in the ties. Pakistan looks forward to deepening its partnership with Italy to achieve its peace, development, and prosperity objective.
A large Pakistani diaspora is living in Italy, contributing to strengthening bilateral ties, and similar, there are several important Italian firms and companies building Pakistan’s economic growth potential.
