Ambassador of Indonesia visits University of Peshawar

Peshawar, 10 November 2021 (TDI): On the 10th of November, Ambassador Adam Mulawarman Tugio, Indonesian ambassador to Pakistan visited the University of Peshawar.

He was welcomed by the Vice-Chancellor University, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Idrees, along with administrative staff including the Dean Prof Dr. Zahid Anwar, Chairman Department of International Relations Dr. Syed Hussain Shaheed Soherwordi, and Registrar Saifullah Khan.

The program commenced with the National Anthem of Jakarta and Islamabad. At the Sahibzada Abdul Qayyum Auditorium, the ambassador gave a speech in the presence of university students and staff.

During his address, he announced the plan of the Embassy of Indonesia to assist the students of the University of Peshawar in forthcoming scholarships of Higher education.

Moreover, he told about the readiness of the Indonesian government to help the student-to-student and faculty-to-faculty exchange program. As in this regard, the University of Peshawar is capable of facilitating the exchange program.

While highlighting tourism in Indonesia and Pakistan, the ambassador also mentioned that because of a lack of promotional marketing techniques the tourists in Pakistan do not know about Indonesian tourism. For this, he proposed that students can contribute to promoting it with the help of a 3D model of all tourists places.

Other than tourism, Ambassador Adam talked about the resemblance in Pakistani and Indonesian arts, culture, food, and tradition. Adam Mulawarman Tugio gifted his book to Prof. Dr. Muhammad Idrees, written on the overlapping behavior of two countries.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Idrees, in his speech, appreciated the Ambassador’s visit to the University. He highlighted the friendly and diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Pakistan.

VC of the University of Peshawar mentioned that the two countries have multifaceted cooperation. Now, the two countries will collaborate in the education field. In this vein, he admired the ambassador’s dedication to enhancing the educational exchange program and to play role in promoting the University of Peshawar.

Professor Dr. Syed Hussain Shaheed Soherwordi appreciated the visit of the ambassador and the opportunities generated through this visit. He also reminded the audience about the Indonesian President’s visit to Pakistan in 1963 and mentioned the square named after him in Peshawar, “The Sukarno Square”.
