Almaty to Host Afghan Business Exhibition

-

Almaty, (TDI): An exhibition of Afghan businesses is scheduled to open in Almaty on October 22, coinciding with the upcoming Kazakhstan-Afghanistan Business Forum.

This significant event aims to strengthen economic ties between the two nations and facilitate collaboration among entrepreneurs.

The forum, organized by Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Commerce, was initially set for late August but has been rescheduled for October due to logistical considerations.

It is expected to attract more than 250 Afghan entrepreneurs representing a wide array of sectors, including agriculture, textiles, handicrafts, and technology.

The exhibition will serve as a crucial platform for these businesses to showcase their products, explore potential partnerships, and engage with Kazakh counterparts.

This gathering continues the longstanding tradition of Kazakh-Afghan business forums, with the last events held in Astana in August 2023 and in Afghanistan in April 2024.

Such forums have historically facilitated dialogue and cooperation, helping to enhance trade relations and economic collaboration.

Kazakhstan’s recent decision to remove the Taliban from its list of banned organizations marks a pivotal development in the region’s political landscape.

This decision is part of a broader strategy aimed at strengthening economic and trade ties with Afghanistan.

Since the Taliban assumed power in 2021, Afghanistan has increasingly become an essential partner for Central Asia, especially in light of the region’s desire to diversify trade and economic partnerships.

Kazakhstan-Afghanistan Economic Ties

Economic relations between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan are expected to flourish, with projections suggesting a potential growth to $3 billion in trade volume.

This anticipated growth will be driven by the active participation of Afghan businesses in forums like the one in Almaty, as well as the signing of key agreements, particularly in the agricultural sector.

These initiatives reflect a concerted effort to enhance mutual cooperation, promote regional stability, and unlock economic potential for both nations.

The successful execution of this exhibition could serve as a catalyst for further strengthening the economic ties between Kazakhstan and Afghanistan, paving the way for a more integrated regional economy.
