Islamabad Foreign Women’s Association Elects Alicia Kalaw-Fernandez as Vice President

Islamabad (TDI): The Islamabad Foreign Women’s Association (IFWA) has elected Alicia Kalaw-Fernandez, wife of the Philippine Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Emmanuel R. Fernandez, as its new Vice President.

Fernandez brings extensive experience in finance, diplomacy-related service, and the arts. She previously served in the Philippine banking sector, reaching the role of Assistant Vice President at Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC), one of the country’s leading commercial banks.

In the diplomatic community, she has held positions as Treasurer of the Asian Ambassadors’ Ladies International Association (AALIA) in Amman, Jordan, and of the Asociación Internacional de Diplomáticos en España (AIDE) in Madrid, Spain.

In addition to her professional work, Fernandez is an accomplished painter, chef, and writer, contributing actively to the cultural diplomacy initiatives of the embassies where her husband has served.

The IFWA is an international organization that promotes friendship, support, and cross-cultural understanding among expatriate women in Islamabad.

Its mission includes fostering intercultural dialogue and supporting humanitarian, educational, and cultural projects in Pakistan and the wider diplomatic community.

Membership is open to foreign women residing in Islamabad, including spouses of diplomats, expatriate professionals, and internationally affiliated residents.
