Alexandra Berg Assumes Charge as Swedish Ambassador to Pakistan

Islamabad, 19 August 2024 (TDI): Sweden has appointed Alexandra Berg von Linde as the new ambassador to Pakistan.

The Embassy of Sweden said in a statement that the Embassy is pleased to welcome the new Ambassador-Designate of Sweden Alexandra Berg von Linde to Islamabad.
Alexandra Berg von Linde has been tasked with the new diplomatic role in Pakistan from 15 August, the statement said.

She has previously served as Swedish Ambassador to Bangladesh as well as served at the Embassies in New Delhi and Kabul.

She has held numerous positions in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Stockholm, including Chief of Staff to two Ministers of International Development Cooperation and Deputy Head of Ministers’ Office.

Pakistan and Sweden have had long-standing relations and cooperation in various sectors.

In June, both countries agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation and forge a broad-based relationship anchored in enhanced economic collaboration.

The understanding was reached during the eighteenth round of Bilateral Political Consultations held between the two nations in Islamabad.

On the occasion, Additional Foreign Secretary (Europe), Ambassador Shafqat Ali Khan, had led the Pakistani side, while the Swedish side was headed by Director General of the Global Department of the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Dag Juhlin-Dannfelt.

The two sides reviewed the whole gamut of bilateral cooperation covering political ties, trade and investment, education, and people-to-people contacts.
