Karachi, 20 August 2024 (TDI): Air Link Communications Limited, Pakistan’s leading manufacturer and distributor of smartphones, has partnered with Acer Gadget – a global leader in innovative technology – to assemble laptops and tablets in the country.
The development came to light when Air Link Communications shared it in its notice to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) on Tuesday.
“Acer Gadget Inc., a global leader in innovative and affordable technology, has announced a strategic partnership with Air Link to launch the ‘Acer Gadget e10’ series of laptops, tablets, and all-in-one devices in the Pakistani market,” according to a notice from Air Link.
According to the notice shared with PSX, Air Link said it has entered distribution and assembling agreements with Acer Gadget’s manufacturing partner, Shanghai Sixunited Intelligent Technology Co. Ltd. The production of these products will take place at Air Link’s Lahore facility, it added.
The development led to a surge in Air Link’s share price, which surged from Rs132.14 on Monday to Rs139 on Tuesday at the PSX.
Acer Gadget Inc., a subsidiary of the well-known Taiwanese company Acer Inc., specializes in hardware and electronics. Acer is a global leader in the computing industry, especially for it laptops, desktops, monitors, and other gadgets.
Air Link, established in 2014, focuses on importing, exporting, distributing, and retailing communication and IT products, such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and accessories.
In June, Air Link signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IMIKI Corporation, a Chinese tech company, to manufacture smart wearable devices.
Last October, the company joined hands with Chinese tech giant Xiaomi to produce smart TVs at its manufacturing facility in Lahore.
