Air Chief, Chinese Envoy Discuss Strategic Ties

Islamabad (TDI): Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong on Tuesday called on Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu during his visit to Air Headquarters, Islamabad.

During the meeting, they discussed a range of matters, including corporate-level engagements, defense collaboration and the evolving geostrategic environment in the region.

They highlighted the significance of cohesive and collaborative approaches in responding to new challenges, stressing the necessity of maintaining full operational readiness and quick coordination amidst the prevailing regional security dynamics.

The Air Chief reiterated that Pakistan and China enjoy historic and time-tested relations rooted in mutual trust, strategic convergence and common aspirations for regional peace and stability.

He described Pakistan and China as “Iron Brothers,” stressing that their relationship has only strengthened with the passage of time and will further deepen through collaboration and partnership in future.

Chief of the Air Staff thanked China for its continued support and unwavering friendship.

He also praised Beijing’s role in helping Pakistan’s defense modernization and technological development, particularly in sectors of human resource development, technology transfer and cooperation in research and development.

The Chinese envoy commended the exemplary operational capabilities the PAF showed during the recent military tensions with India, calling it a reflection of the Force’s high standards and firm commitment to Pakistan’s defense.

He lauded PAF’s professionalism and commendable utilization of Chinese-made equipment and technology to thwart enemy attacks.

The ambassador also appreciated PAF for its operational effectiveness and strategic acumen in employing indigenous solutions and advanced systems to protect national interests and deter potential threats under the current leadership.

Reaffirming Beijing’s firm support, he assured full technical assistance to PAF in order to further enhance its aerial defense capabilities.

He also praised Islamabad’s commitment to self-reliance and stressed that PAF’s investment in indigenous processes had started to yield positive outcomes.

The envoy emphasized that constant focus on indigenous technological advancement by Pakistan would further elevate its defense capabilities.
