Islamabad (TDI): Under its flagship initiative, the “Upscaling of Green Pakistan Programme (UGPP),” the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, in line with the Government of Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to combat climate change and promote environmental sustainability, requested all Ministries to organize a tree planting ceremony at their respective Ministries’ premises.
The Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, attended the tree planting event today together with the Additional Secretary, Planning Secretary Awais Manzur Sumra, and other Ministry employees.
To symbolize the government’s proactive efforts in tackling climate concerns, trees were planted on the ministry’s grounds as part of the project.
Planting trees is one of the most powerful tools we have in the fight against climate change, Minister Ahsan Iqbal said during the event, underscoring the need of addressing environmental issues immediately. Numerous religions have also supported it, including the teachings of the Holy Prophet (SAWW), who claimed that the act of planting a tree counts as an act of charity.

“A sustainable and healthy environment for future generations is our goal, and we aim to make Pakistan greener,” Minister Ahsan Iqbal continued. Pakistan’s ecology will be enhanced and its standing as one of the world’s most ecologically concerned nations will rise as a result of our increased tree planting.
To contribute to a future that is cleaner, greener, and for more environmental sustainability, the UGPP seeks to increase the amount of forest cover and encourage reforestation throughout Pakistan.
