African Union organizes the 17th AU-EU Human Rights Dialogue

Addis Ababa, 9 November 2021 (TDI): Department of African Union (AU), PAPS, is hosting the dialogue in virtual format.  AU Commissioner for PAPS, H.E. Amb. Bankole Adeoye, and the EU Special Representative for Human Rights, H.E. Mr. Eamon Gilmore, will lead the dialogue. Then,  AU bodies related to Human rights will participate in the dialogue.

The AU-EU dialogue is held annually and focuses on sharing experiences related to Democracy, Rule of Law and, Human Rights in Europe and Africa.

AU-EU dialogue allows sharing practices and views on the protection and promotion of human rights in Africa. Therefore, AU and EU representatives will discuss the recent Human Rights developments in Europe and Africa and the work of AU human rights bodies. It will also focus on the implementation of the AU Transitional justice policy.  Likewise, The platform also enhances AU-EU cooperation in other areas of common interest. Due to COVID19 reasons, the African Union will host the 17th AU-EU Dialogue virtually.
