Kabul: 28 July 2021 (TDI)

Mirwais Nab, Deputy Foreign Minister of Afghanistan, met with Ian J. McCary, Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Kabul on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Nab discussed the latest developments in the political and security environment of Afghanistan. He described the continuation of cooperation between Afghanistan and the United States following the withdrawal of security forces as a significant step for Afghanistan as well as for regional peace and stability. In response to the intensification of Taliban attacks, he stressed that the Afghan government is making every effort to achieve peace and stability in the country and to find political solutions. However, if the Taliban continue to wage war and kill innocent Afghans, the country’s security forces will battle to safeguard the people and their homeland.

McCary expressed his concerns over the Taliban attacks. He assured Afghanistan of the United States’ continued collaboration in numerous domains, as well as his country’s assistance for Afghan security forces.
