Afghan FM Meets Envoys from Regional Countries

KABUL (TDI): The Acting Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, has held high-level discussions with the special envoys from regional countries including China, Iran, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, and India.

Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, Deputy Spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated on his X account that Foreign Minister Mawlawi Muttaqi met with the special envoys on the sidelines of the Sixth Moscow Format Meeting.

According to the state-owned Bakhtar News Agency, the discussions focused on enhancing bilateral political relations and fostering economic cooperation between Afghanistan and regional countries.

Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi reassured the envoys about security in Afghanistan and its positive impact on region.

He underlined the significance of advancing mutual economic interests through trade and investment opportunities between Afghanistan and the regional countries.

Some of the neighboring countries like Pakistan still have reservations about the situation in Pakistan as areas on Pak-Afghan border sporadically witness violence and attacks.

The regional countries views peace in Afghanistan as a positive sign for the region with some concerns about presence of certain terrorist elements in Afghanistan.

Nevertheless, the envoys reportedly affirmed their countries’ commitment to deepening engagement with Afghanistan.

Regional cooperation for peace and stability was also discussed, while the meeting mainly focused on trade and economic activities.
