Islamabad, 25 August 2022 (TDI): A short documentary of the event organized at the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in Islamabad has been released to celebrate the auspicious occasion of 103 Independence Day of Afghanistan on 19 August.

Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan, Sardar Ahmed Shakib addressed the meeting organized on the occasion of the 103rd anniversary of the regaining of Afghanistan’s independence. The event was organized at the Embassy of Afghanistan in Islamabad.
Likewise, the Special Representative of Pakistan for Afghanistan, Mohammad Sadiq Khan also spoke on the occasion.
The anniversary celebrations were attended by high-ranking Pakistani government officials, several ambassadors, and diplomats, media persons, representatives of scholars and university professors, businessmen, and representatives of immigrants.
Aside from them, students and scholars also participated in the celebratory event. Ambassador Sardar Ahmed Shakib, while welcoming the guests congratulated Afghanistan on Afghan Independence Day.

He gave a detailed account of the one-year achievements of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and also discussed the historical and cultural values of Afghanistan.
Afghan Independence Day
Every year, Afghanistan celebrates August 19 as its independence day to acknowledge the Afghan-Anglo Treaty of 1919 at the end of the Third Afghan-Anglo War.
The treaty paved a way for a completely neutral relationship between Britain and Afghanistan after Britain gave up control of Afghanistan’s foreign affairs in 1921.
Pakistan-Afghanistan Relations
To have close cordial relations with Afghanistan is the highest priority of Pakistan and vice-versa. Both countries tend to extend diplomatic ties to strengthen close cordial relations as it’s also an impetus to peaceful cooperation.
Pakistan continues its efforts for friendly and good-neighborly relations with Afghanistan on basis of mutual respect for sovereignty and integrity.
Pakistan is also assisting Afghanistan in building the capacity necessary in the fields of banking, agriculture, railways, diplomacy, and the military.
Trade and Economy
In the realm of trade and economic relations, the two countries have substantial trade relations. Pakistan is Afghanistan’s largest trade partner in the region.
The two countries have followed institutional mechanisms in the domain of trade and economic cooperation.
Afghan Refugees
Pakistan has hosted millions of Afghan refugees for the last four decades. There are around 2.8 million Afghan refugees currently living in Pakistan.
