A virtual meeting between the UAE and China’s Foreign Minister

Beijing, 23 September 2021 (TDI): Foreign Minister and State Councilor of China Wang Yi held a virtual meeting by having a phone conversation with the Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Both dignitaries pledged to promote bilateral relations.

In the phone call, FM Wang noted that this year has great importance to both countries as this year marks the 50th anniversary of the UAE and also the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.

Since the inception of bilateral relations, both countries have enjoyed a high level of progress and development. Wang said that President Xi had always cherished this mutual respect, that’s why trust was established with the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Wang added that the friendship of China and the UAE has always been an important factor in China’s Middle East diplomacy and that China supports the United Arab Emirates to safeguard sovereignty, stability, and security.

China appreciates the firm support given by UAE to China on its core interests and major concerns. He further said that China is ready to join hands with UAE to undertake the common norms of international relations like non-interference in international affairs and preserve international justice and equity.

China ensured the early victory of the UAE and other Middle East countries over the pandemic by cooperating in vaccine procurement needs. China also presented its heartiest congratulations to UAE on its appointment as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council from 2022 to 2023. Wang said that China is glad for UAE for its positive role in safeguarding regional and world stability.
