US Generals Worldwide Summoned to Rare Meeting in Virginia

Washington (TDI): US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered senior American generals and admirals from across the globe to assemble at Quantico, Virginia, next week, an unusually rare gathering of the military’s top leadership, Reuters reported.

The abrupt summons has unsettled many officers, several of whom oversee thousands of troops and plan schedules weeks in advance. “People are scrambling to change their plans and see if they have to attend,” the leading news outlet added citing sources.

It remains unclear how many commanders will attend or why the meeting was called. Pentagon spokesperson Sean Parnell offered only that “the Secretary of War will be addressing his senior military leaders early next week.”

President Donald Trump recently directed that the Pentagon be renamed the “Department of War,” a change requiring congressional approval.

The White House sought to downplay speculation. Vice President J.D. Vance insisted the gathering was “not unusual at all.”

Still, analysts note it is highly uncommon for so many senior officers, some stationed in South Korea, Japan, and the Middle East, to be summoned together at short notice.

“It’s probably more mundane than people think… (but) the lack of clarity isn’t helping,” another official remarked, the report added.
