Copilot Gets Voice Chat, Photo Features

-

Washington (TDI): By introducing an upgraded version of its Copilot chatbot on Tuesday that can hold voice chats and comprehend photos, Microsoft demonstrated its commitment to bringing artificial intelligence to customers.

In a blog post announcing the updated chatbot, Microsoft AI CEO and senior vice president Mustafa Suleyman stated, “Copilot will be there for you, in your corner, by your side, and always strongly aligned with your interests.”

In March, Microsoft hired Suleyman, a former executive at AI pioneer Google DeepMind, to run its consumer AI group.

Microsoft pioneered the public release of generative AI technology, primarily leveraging the models from its $13 billion collaboration with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT.

As a result of their dominance in the worldwide smartphone market, Google and Apple have subsequently discovered it and are utilizing it to distribute their AI products to users.

Meanwhile, Meta is utilizing the billions of users of its platform—such as Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp—to advertise its AI chatbot, Meta.

With four speech options for brainstorming, short questions, and emotional companionship, Microsoft claims that Copilot’s voice feature offers a more natural way to communicate with your AI friend.

While the vision tool is still in the test phase and will require users to “opt-in,” the voice features will primarily be available in English-speaking countries.

Microsoft stated that safety would be important and that data acquired from its new vision feature would be deleted after use.

The business claims that the new feature will allow it to “see” what a user sees on a webpage and provide “answers about its content, suggest next steps, and help you without disrupting your workflow.”

“To help ensure it’s a safe experience for everyone,” the company stated that the function would begin with a “limited list of popular websites.”

Microsoft also announced the release of “Think Deeper,” a new feature that would enable Copilot to solve increasingly difficult tasks.

The upgrade comes after OpenAI’s o1 model, which was unveiled last month, was criticized for not consistently providing solutions to more challenging tasks in science, coding, and mathematics.

As part of its Discover function, Microsoft announced that it will further customize Copilot by using your chat history to make the tool “even more personalized over time.”

However, due to stricter regulations on the use of personal data by large platforms, such upgrades would not yet be available in the EU and Britain.
