Qatar Airways Suspends Flights to Beirut till Sept 25

ISLAMABAD (TDI): Qatar Airways has temporarily suspended flights to and from Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport until September 25, due to rising escalating tensions between Israel and Hezbollah.

This decision comes in the wake of the deadliest cross-border clashes in nearly a year, with Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon resulting in at least 492 fatalities, including 35 children, according to Lebanon’s health ministry.

The fresh wave of violence between Israel and Hezbollah began in October last year, with the Lebanese militant group supporting Gaza amid ongoing Israeli assaults.

This conflict has led to increased instability in the region, prompting several airlines to halt operations.

Last week, Qatar Airways also banned pagers and walkie-talkies on flights to Beirut after a series of explosions, reportedly linked to Israeli attacks, killed 37 people and injured thousands.

Other major airlines, including Lufthansa, Air France, and Delta Air Lines, have also suspended services to Beirut in recent days, with some flights to Iran being affected as well.

The situation continues to evolve, with regional airlines closely monitoring developments.
