US Embassy Islamabad to inaugurate Lincoln Corner at NUST

Islamabad: July 19, 2021 – (TDI):  The National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and The US Embassy in Islamabad signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to build a Lincoln Corner in NUST, Sector H-12, Islamabad. The MoU was signed by the U.S. Embassy’s Minister Counselor for Public Affairs, Mr. Raymond Castillo, and Pro-Rector of Academics at NUST, Dr. Osman Hasan. During the ceremony of signing the MoU, some representatives from the US Embassy, Lieutenant General Engineer Javed Mahmood Bukhari (retired), NUST Rector, and Dr. Riaz Ahmad, Head of the NUST International Office, were also in attendance.

During the ceremony, Mr. Castillo expressed, “I believe that the Lincoln Corner at NUST will be a substantial resource for young leaders seeking to build their networks, hone their cross-cultural skills, and deepen their relationship with the United States.”

By signing this MoU, NUST has integrated into an 18-member durable network of partnerships between prominent Pakistani educational and cultural institutes and the US Mission to Pakistan. Lincoln corners provide a pathway for the youth leadership of Pakistan to connect with the US. Its programs are free, both online and in-person.

The Lincoln Corner in NUST, which will include a makerspace lab, physical and digital information resources, and an Americana-themed public events space, will be established in the Central Library of Campus. Its construction will start later in summer.
