97% of Uzbeks Express Pride in Independence

Tashkent (TDI): As Uzbekistan marked its 34th Independence Day, a new nationwide survey highlights overwhelming pride and optimism among its people.

The poll, conducted by the Ijtimoiy Fikr Public Opinion Research Center, found that 97% of citizens feel proud of their country on Independence Day, while 95.5% express pride in being Uzbek citizens.

Nearly 88% view the holiday as joyful and festive, and more than 84% associate it with national unity.

Independence is also seen as a driver of personal opportunity. About 79% of respondents said recent years have given them more chances to realize their potential and achieve life goals.

When asked about Uzbekistan’s future, citizens painted a hopeful picture: 97.8% envision a strong and prosperous nation, 88.9% peaceful and stable, 85.3% spiritually rich, and 81.9% modern and innovative.

Researchers concluded that Independence Day has become both a historic milestone and a symbol of collective confidence in the country’s direction.

This sense of pride aligns with Uzbekistan’s rising global profile. In the 2024 World Happiness Report, the country ranked 47th worldwide, the happiest in Central Asia, outperforming neighbors like Kazakhstan, which fell to 49th.

The ranking factors in income, social support, life expectancy, freedom, generosity, and perceptions of corruption.
