65 suspected ISIL terrorists arrested in Turkiya

İstanbul 26 August 2024 (TDI): The Turkish security forces have claimed to have arrested 65 Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) terror supspects in various operations during the last five days in 10 provinces.

Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya said that the suspects who were taken into custody were allegedly found involved in terror activities and having close links with terror organisations. He further said that the security forces conducted raids to arrest these suspects in cities including the capital Ankara, Istanbul and the Mediterranean province of Mugla.

Police also apprehended some other suspects in another raid in the western province of Manisa, who were involved in the spreading of pro-ISIL propaganda through social media. Police also conducted raids at the suspect’s residences and have taken into their possession digital and other prohibited publications.

The authorities have launched a mass operation and arrested ISIL members on a large scale and booked 99 people on August 2 and 147 people in March.
