PESHAWAR, (TDI): At least 12 security personnel were martyred and six terrorists were killed during a clash between security forces and militants in Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, on Wednesday.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, the terrorists launched an attack on a combined security checkpoint manned by the Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps (FC) in the Mali Khel area of Bannu.
The ISPR reported that a suicide bomber detonated his explosives near the checkpoint in the restive Jani Khel area, followed by gunfire aimed at security forces. The bomber’s vehicle, packed with explosives, struck a wall of the checkpoint, causing significant damage to the structure. In response, security forces acted swiftly to repel the attack, killing at least six militants.

The suicide blast led to the collapse of a section of the perimeter wall, damaging surrounding infrastructure and resulting in the martyrdom of 12 security personnel—ten soldiers and two Frontier Constabulary soldiers.
Earlier, on Tuesday, terrorists had abducted seven policemen from a nearby checkpoint in Bannu. Fortunately, they were safely recovered later that evening.
